Hi! Thank you for visiting MississippiMom.com. My name is Charlie White, and I am the homeschooling mother of four behind this blog, which I began writing as I settled into life as a mom here in the Deep South….where I never expected to be.
Oh, I am from Mississippi, but I never expected to live here as an adult, much less a mom.
Not because I don’t love it. Mississippi is a place full of history, beauty, and magic…of the literary sort anyway. (I was an English major and an English teacher so the heritage of writing Mississippi offers is not lost on me.) Alongside the history and the beauty, there is brokenness here. Faulkner was right when he said, “To understand the world, you must first understand a place like Mississippi.”
And I want to understand the world, to see it. That’s why I never planned to be here, raising my kids in a small town a world away from everything I expected. I write a lot about that, the learning to accept God’s plan and trust him in the meanwhile.
So I walk by faith, believing God is good and his plans are perfect. I hope you’ll join me on the journey!
