“Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you. Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.” Isaiah 26:8
On Christmas, we celebrate the coming of the Messiah, but the good news doesn’t stop there. The same Messiah whose miraculous birth we remember will return to earth one day. His second coming, just like His first, will take many by surprise, but this time, they won’t miss it. Luke 21:27 says, “At that time, they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great power and great glory.” He came to earth as a humble baby, He’ll return as King of Kings.
So, what do we do in the meantime? Watch for him! Wait for Him! Worship Him! Make Him known among the nations. After all, that’s the final command he gave. We have to take it personally. As you wait for Him, do what he said. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything” He commanded, and He will be with us, for He is still Immanuel.
Worship: Read Luke 21:27-28. Every day, we are at least one day closer to the return of Christ. As Christians, we should long for His return. Jesus said when you see that He is coming to “stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Oh, imagine that day! We will see Christ as He really is. Pray that God will prepare your heart for His return and impress upon you the need for others to know Him.
Family Focus: Explain to children that Jesus will come again. Assure them that there is no need for His people to fear. Older kids may have questions, discuss them, explaining again God’s plan of salvation. Give your children the opportunity to accept God’s gift today.
