5-minute-friday-1Today’s Five Minute Friday topic is “Brave.”  Visit Lisa-Jo’s site and join in!  Even if you’re like me and your five minutes only produces two paragraphs.  And a whole lot of fragments.  Because every needs me.  Now.  Happy Friday, y’all!

He dives headfirst into everything.  So brave it scares me.  Fearless and fast…that’s my boy.  I watch him in wonder, as if he were a new and undiscovered species of person, and I am amazed at the energy and courage that God created in him.

I never knew little boys before.  Until him, they were foreign to me, the second of so many sisters.

How can so much sweetness be tangled up in so much toughness?  How can love be so adequately communicated with clenched fists?

Because whatever he does, he does fiercely.

And, I realize that as brave as he is, I’m going to have to be even braver.  To catch my breath every time he falls.  To steer his energy in the right direction.  To help him be brave for all the right reasons.

Oh how my heart knows these words so well. I have 2 of these crazy sweet and scary brave boys myself. second and third to a sister. It blows my heart away how brave they can be and how I pray for direction to steer it all. God has a plan for these Mighty Boys of God. It’s such an honor to be a apart of shaping their lives. 🙂

Here from FMF 🙂 Can’t wait to read more of your blog.

I love this line “I watch him in wonder, as if he were a new and undiscovered species of person, and I am amazed at the energy and courage that God created in him.” I’ve had moments like that with my 4 year old. Like you I’m from a family of sisters so the world of little boy is new 🙂 Your final paragraph is wonderful, so true. Thanks!

I realize that as brave as he is, I’m going to have to be even braver.- Phew! Mothering boys is indeed a challenge to be brave. And yet, so much joy there, isn’t there? I loved your description of your boy being fierce. I would describe my boys in the same way- yet they have the most tender of hearts. It is a beautiful thing to see!

I am a mother of 3 girls…and then a boy. Even though I grew up with 3 brothers, his daring-do still scares me! Yes, we must be braver than they, girding our fainter hearts to withstand their brave actions. Thanks for this delightful little piece on a Friday – I hopped over from FMF!

I have to chuckle so because it is my little girl (not her brother) that has caused me to have to be brave. She dove head over heels into every thing. Thanks for giving me a little laughter for the weekend.

Oh my yes! I’m a mom of two boys and they have kept me gasping and praying for five years now! I came over from FMF when I saw your picture of a head-first-down-the-slide boy because that’s my boys too. I pray that I too might help my boys be brave for all the right reasons. What a good thought to finish my day with. Thank you.
