Y’all, I meant to write this post days and days ago. Because you guys like to plan ahead, right? Well, if your weekend isn’t already all booked up, here’s a little something you need to squeeze in!
The LEGO DUPLO Read! Play! Build! national tour will be at the MS Children’s Museum on Saturday and Sunday!
Here’s a little information about the event:
“Each summer, libraries, parks, museums and various other family attractions work to entertain, excite and inspire children all summer long in educational and fun ways. For communities across the country, these venues are pillars of summer excitement and continued learning. To celebrate exploration, learning and play from a young age and support cities in their efforts to spice up summer, LEGO DUPLO has launched the Read! Build! Play! national tour and is coming to Jackson to ignite exploration in toddlers and introduce new ways to play and learn to parents.
Designed for children under five, the Read! Build! Play! experience brings together reading, building, singing and storytelling in a fun, educational way. As story tellers read, children will be encouraged to build, sing, play and explore through original games and creative activities.”
I’ve nominated my local library…have you?
“The experience also celebrates the hard work of librarians across the country in their quest to help grow our youth. In June, the Association of Library Service to Children kicked off a national program with LEGO DUPLO in which parents can support their local libraries by nominating them to receive special recognition for all their hard work. Simply visit www.readbuildplay.com to nominate your local library – the top 200 will receive toolkits full of bricks, books and other items to ensure your community has even more resources to encourage play and learning all summer long!”
If you can’t make it to the event, you can visit www.readbuildplay.com and download the Parent Activity Guide, full of suggestions and ideas on how to keep playtime fresh, energetic and educational.
If your weekend is packed, visit the Jackson Zoo on Monday because the tour is also stopping there!
