This is one of those posts that I have been wanting to write for a long time, but something always holds me back. It’s usually the lump in my throat.
But, today, I have to stop and tell you about Joell.
I don’t have to tell you she was beautiful. Her picture tells you that.
What it doesn’t tell you is that she was brave. And strong. And one of the fiercest fighters ever.
And exactly one year ago, her battle ended.
I won’t say she lost it for she has been healed.
Only weeks before, we had been praying for her when she walked in, lipstick on, ready to study God’s word.
She was determined not to miss a thing.
Even during her illness, she thought of others. Every time I saw her, she said, “I have gifts for your babies!”
And, not long after her funeral, her beautiful daughter brought them by.
Obviously, Joell taught her daughter to think of others, too.
She loved her children. And, she cheered for them.
I imagine she was cheering like crazy as she watched her daughter become Ole Miss’s Homecoming Queen this year.
And, Joell, we were, too.

Please join me in praying for Joell’s family this week.
