I have always hated making red icing…or should I say “trying to make red icing”? The color never seemed to come out right…until now. Thanks to Bridget I now not only know how to make royal icing, I know how to make it red, and the simple secret is:
Americolor Super Red Gel Coloring.
It works so quickly, adds no funny flavor…I love it! Really, if you need to dye something red this week, run (don’t walk) right out and get some. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for the grand total of $1.20-something.
One important thing to remember though is that it will get darker over time so when you’re mixing the color into the icing, don’t go all the way red, or it will be too dark later. (This almost ruined my Valentine’s cookies…but just almost!)
