Celebrate “Mem-OREO” Day with a Quick & Easy Frozen Dessert

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!  Here’s a quick and easy recipe that everyone will love!

When our twins were younger, they confused Memorial Day with “Mem-Oreo” Day, and a new family tradition was born!  We always have Oreos on “Mem-Oreo” Day while we enjoy time with family and friends and remember the sacrifices so many made for us.

This year, I decided we’d try a recipe I remembered from My childhood:  Oreo Delight.

It’s quick.  It’s easy.  And, it’s delicious.

Yes, you could just buy a gallon of cookies and cream ice cream, but I promise this is better.

You’ll only need three ingredients, and they are:

  • A family size package of Oreo cookies
  • Half a gallon of vanilla ice cream
  • A large container of whipped topping.

Seriously, that’s it.

First, let your ice cream and whipped topping soften up a bit while you crush those Oreo cookies.  The size of the pieces is all about your preference.  (I just put them in a plastic bag and beat them with my rolling pin!)

Once the cookies are crushed and everything’s a bit soft, put it all in a bowl and mix until well-combined then spread in a 9×13 dish and freeze.

I’d be sure and freeze it for at least a few hours, but I froze ours overnight.  When you’re ready, just cut into squares and serve.

Add a half of a cookie on top of each piece for presentation’s sake, too!

Enjoy!
