During a really stressful day, I find there’s only one thing better than taking a quiet, peaceful coffee break, and that’s taking one with God! Read on to learn about a wonderful resource for taking a much needed time out!
I’ve written before about how challenging it can be to have a quiet time in a loud house, and I have to tell you: it hasn’t gotten easier for me these days. That doesn’t mean it isn’t still of utmost importance though.
I need the time with the Lord for so many reasons. Some of the main ones that come to mind are:
- Fellowship with my Heavenly Father
- Renewing my mind
- Getting my prioirities straight
- Preparing my heart for the day ahead
- Confessing sin and being made clean
- Finding wisdom in God’s word.
I absolutely love resources that help me take time to study the word more faithfully. Exstresso: Taking a Coffee Break with God is one of them! Written by Leah Whitton with Jessica Casarez, Exstresso is a daily devotional book that combines two of my most favorite things: God’s word and good coffee.
Each week is centered around a specific theme like “The Daily Grind,” and the daily devotions are well-written and relevant to life in today’s stressed out world. They’re not long, but that doesn’t mean they’re not meaty. Each day’s reading is perfect for the mom who is busy in the morning, but the Scripture passages referenced give ample opportunity to explore God’s word further.
I have had so many days of finding insight with continued reading. The book has given me great places to start in my person study!
Leah Whitton is a pastor’s wife, mother of three, author, speaker and decorator. She knows what it is to be busy, but this book proves she also knows how to “stop and smell the coffee.” I really enjoyed her insights into life through the lens of coffee and Scripture.
Exstresso: Taking a Coffee Break with God is a six-week devotional study that will encourage your faith and strengthen your walk with Christ. It is designed to fit perfectly into your busy days and help you face them with faith.
If you’re looking for a devotional to help get you back into the routine of meeting with God every morning, grab a cup of coffee and a copy of this book.
If you’ve read Exstresso: Taking a Coffee Break with God, I’d love to hear what you thought of it! If you haven’t, please leave a comment sharing a favorite devotional resource you’ve used lately. I’m always looking for my next read!
