This post was sponsored by McAlister’s Deli – Teacher Appreciation Week, and I received compensation in the form of a gift card for this post. The opinions below, however, are all my own.
It’s April. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and kids are dying to be outside.
Still, every day at school, our kids have schoolwork to do, and their teachers are there to guide them through it and support along the way.
To say it’s not an easy job is a massive understatement.
When I taught high school English and Journalism, I found that during the month of April it was easier to count the kids who were present and then just mark everyone else absent because between baseball games and track meets and senior skip days, I hardly ever even had half a class.
But there were still finals to prepare for and projects to finish. Grades had to be averaged, awards determined and that yearbook? Yeah, it had to be complete as well.
The end of the year is a busy and, often, very stressful time for teachers.
If ever Teachers need a bit of encouragement, it’s this time of year to give them the boost they need to get through the remainder of the school year !
Thankfully, National Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner, and McAlister’s Deli is making sure teachers throughout the country feel the love and support of their communities this year.
Leading up to Teacher’s Appreciation Week, you can nominate your favorite teacher in the “McAlister’s Loves Teachers” Contest! In addition, during National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10), McAlister’s Deli is giving FREE tea to TEAchers all week long,
All you have to do is visit McAlister’s website from now through April 21 and nominate a teacher who has had an impact on your life or the lives of your children! In addition to select teachers receiving local recognition and activities, three national well-deserving teachers will receive $1,000 each for school supplies!
Talk about a great way to end the school year!
To be sure your favorite teachers know about the contest, share this post with them. All they have to do is show a valid teacher I.D. to receive free tea all week during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-10!
My family and I often eat at McAlister’s Deli, and I’ve always loved their tea, as well as the community-focused atmosphere in the restaurant. From the days of meeting up with all my college friends at the original McAlister’s Deli in Oxford to having lunch with our family and friends on Sundays after church, McAlister’s Deli has always been a place where our communities came together. The more people, the better…just push a few tables together or choose to eat at the community tables, and you’re good. I love how that feeling of community is being extended to teachers through the “McAlister’s Love Teachers” Contest.
It’s nice to know that a restaurant like McAlister’s Deli is committed not just to being part of our communities but to improving them as well.
Another way they’re doing that is through “Cookies for a Cause.” During National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6 – 10, McAlister’s Deli will donate $0.75 of every sugar cookie sold to that restaurant’s local school district.
I’m thinking that buying a big tray of sugar cookies from McAlister’s Deli to take to the teacher’s lounge is a great way to give…twice!
