Some days, naptime at our house is a picture of peace. Quiet babies, all sleeping and a mom sipping coffee and catching up on blogs or books or dishes.
Not this week.
This week, it’s been a bit more like a relay race, and the kids just keep passing the baton. One up, one down…all day.
Between a toddler who’s testing and a set of twins who are teething…this mama is tired.
There are emails to answer, events to plan, and laundry to fold. But you know what?
There always will be.
So, I sit. I sit and let some simple truths sink in.
- I don’t have to do it all. There are some things that can wait and others that I should just cross off the list and let someone else do. (You know those things, right? Those things you’re afraid to say “no” to doing.)
- My kids can help. And, I have to take time to let them.
- The big things…the ones I simply cannot do….those are the things God can. And, I have to believe that he will.
So, I sit. And remember his words:
“Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in all the earth.”
And I pray that today he will be exalted in me.
