These delicious pecans make a great treat and a wonderful teacher’s gift.  Just package them in clear treat bags and tie with a bow!

  • Cook Time: 1h
  • Total Time: 1h 5m
  • Yield: 4 cups of candied pecans
  • Category: candy, treats

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • egg whites, beaten until frothy
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups pecan halves
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place one stick of butter (1/2 cup) in 13 x 9 inch baking dish and place in oven to melt as the oven preheats. Whisk egg whites until frothy. Add sugars, corn syrup and vanilla and mix well. Remove butter from oven and add pecans, stirring to coat. Pour egg white mixture over pecans and coat evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 and bake about 30 minutes more, stirring every 10 minutes. The pecans are ready when the mixture is no longer wet and sticky. Pour pecans onto wax paper to cool then store in an airtight container.
