  • Prep Time: 20m
  • Cook Time: 10m
  • Total Time: 30m
  • Category: cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter, unsalted and cut into cubes (You can use salted butter. Just omit the added salt.)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix well. Add flour mixture and beat on low until combined. The mixture will be a bit crumbly. Place dough on floured surface and knead until it holds together. Be careful not to knead too much! Roll dough out to 1/4" - 1/2" thickness and cut into shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets (or you can use parchment-lined cooking sheets) and place in freezer for five minutes. After freezing, bake for 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before removing to wire wracks to cool completely. Decorate as desired.
