Can I offer you an opportunity to show some love? Actually, you can shower love on women a world away who are still our neighbors. You can bless their families and their communities by blessing them with the gift of opportunity. You can be part of changing their lives…. from the comfort of your own home. It’s easy and pretty painless, too. In May, Merchant Ship Ministries is hosting the Mother’s Day Dash, a 5k trail run/walk. All the proceeds go to our women’s ministry programs, which include economic development, skills training and Bible studies. I’m sharing this with you today because it occurred to me that some of you might like to participate. There are a couple of ways you can do that. First, join us and run or walk the race! It’s going to be a fun event, with prizes straight from Kenya and door prizes from around here, too. You can download a registration form here. Second, sponsor the race if you can. Any amount is appreciated, and we welcome donations of door prizes, too. You can download the sponsor form here. Finally, spread the word. Maybe you can’t run or walk or sponsor, but you probably know someone who can. Help us out and encourage others to participate! (Keep reading to learn how you can spread the word AND be entered to win prizes!) I’ll be traveling to Kenya at the end of the month to work with our ministry partners there, and I look forward to telling them about all of the people here who are praying for them and supporting their efforts to make a difference in the lives of women and children in Kenya. It means the world to them, and it means so much to me, too. To encourage you to help us spread the word, I thought a little giveaway might be fun! So, today, I’m giving away three items handcrafted by women in Kenya. The giveaway ends Monday night. Three winners will be chosen. You can enter in a variety of ways, and you can earn an entry each day by tweeting about the giveaway. So, good luck! The prizes are: A beautiful black beaded bracelet, handcrafted by the women at Missions of Hope in Mathare Valley Kenya. It is a stunning piece! A pair of earrings designed and created by Naomi from Nairobi, Kenya. The winner can choose from styles available in our online shop where you can see (and buy!) a pair here.
And, a lovely paper bead necklace with a large pendant, also made by the women in Mathare Valley, one of Africa’s largest slums. So, enter to win and spread the word!
