there’s always more. I mean it. No matter how many loads I wash and dry and fold…there’s always something new in the basket. As a homemaker, it really brings me down. I just never feel “finished.”
Sin in my life is the same way. Every time I turn around I find a new way I fall short. It’s even more discouraging than laundry, and like laundry, just when I think I’m done….there’s something new to deal with. I think that’s why Paul wrote:
“So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:21-24)
Thankfully, just like the laundry can get clean…so can I. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) Can somebody say, “Hallelujah!” and “Amen!”?
