Once, a good friend of mine dreamed that she and I were in a dark forest trying to lead our kids to safety.

And we are.

Every day.

Because life is a battle. Am I right?

We are fighting fear with faith.

We are fighting doubt with determination.

We are fighting evil with good.

And, God is fighting for us.

And, the victory is his. Always his.

But…

We still have to fight the battles, don’t we?

Proverbs 24:6 says, “Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.”

Y’all, I hope you hear me say this:

If you don’t have any wise advisers, get some!

There are a few women in particular whose advice I rely on. I cherish their friendship, and I am so strengthened by it.

I got to know one over hot chai on cool, Kenyan days; another, through a love of words and THE Word.

And, at times of great testing, the things they’ve taught me have often tipped the scales in favor of victory in my life.

What a blessing are wise words from wonderful women!
