Truth to Hold on to When You Feel Like Giving Up

Do you ever feel like just giving up?  I know I do!  Thankfully, we serve a God who never quits.  Read on to find some encouragement for days when you are tempted to!

Truth to Hold on to When You Feel Like Giving Up | Discouraged? Hold On to These Promises from the Bible

Y’all, some days are just harder than others, aren’t they?  Maybe you’re tired, maybe your kids are sick, maybe summer is just lasting a little too long.

There are days you can’t help but wonder if you’re being productive as a parent or a writer or an anything.

I know how you feel.  Believe me, I do.

I’ve heard people say that if your dream doesn’t scare you, it isn’t big enough.

That’s all well and good until you’re knee deep in the details day to day.

Y’all, I am not a details person.  The big picture, that’s my thing.  Ask anyone who knows me.

For that reason, I can get really mired down in a to-do list.  I can lose sight of the goal, of the vision, of the purpose.

When I do that, I am easily tempted to throw in the towel.

But…

When You Feel Like Giving Up, Remember:

The thing is any work that matters in my life or yours didn’t begin with us.  The passions and visions we have come from one who sees more, knows more and does more than we will ever be able to do.

And do you know what?

He’s not finished, even if you think you might be.

God doesn’t get mired down in details; he plans them perfectly.

So I have a very simple Encouraging Word for you this Wednesday:  Don’t give up because, “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)

Don’t give up.

Rest if you need to.  Take a break from time to time.

But don’t give up on God’s calling.

Now, “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.  May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.”  (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

I hope you’ll join me each Wednesday in the month of July as we take encouraging words from the book Philippians!  I’m really looking forward to it and know that we’ll find refreshment this summer in God’s word.

I love that scripture in Philippians! We can easily be derailed by all the stuff going in life. The to-do’s can weigh us down, leaving us exhausted and wanting to give up on our purpose. But God is good. There are reminders all around us to keep us going. Thanks for being that reminder today!

Thank you, Alisa! I am so thankful for the ways he affirms and encourages us through his word and his work in the world.

Charleigh! I so can relate! In fact, I just wrote about this too. Perhaps the Lord is speaking to a number of us in the Spirit to continue to help us each press hard into the plans He has for us—hope for a future! Thank you for your words of encouragement.

Sonya, thanks so much for stopping by! I am sure you are right, and I think he wants us to encourage each other to persevere! I’ll have to read your post…I need encouragement, too!
