Tuesday’s Tip: Baking Soda

This post contains affiliate links to products mentioned. For more information, read my disclosure policy.

Confession time:  This is what my sink looked like Saturday morning:

Please, don’t judge me….at least the dishes were done.  Anyway, when the tarnished state of our sink finally struck me I had nothing to clean it with…no Comet, no Softscrub, nothing.  Then I thought of baking soda.

So I sprinkled (okay, poured) some in the sink and rubbed it in with a dish towel and a little water.  Minutes later, my sink looked like this:

Seriously shiny. Thank you, Baking Soda!

Do you have any other use for baking soda?  If so, please share!

Ha, I do this too. Also if I notice a funny smell coming from the drain I will dump some down followed by a bit of vinegar and let it sit for a while then run the water to rinse it out. Seems to work. I’ve also been known to dump some in with the husband’s laundry. However I did want to recommend Bar Keepers Friend, if you haven’t tried it already. I was very skeptical at first thinking that it was the same as comet but it’s not, it’s so much better.

Baking soda is amazing stuff. It works really well on my kitchen sink…and this past week I also used it in my bathroom sinks. They look so much better!

I love baking soda! It takes tea stains out of mugs like magic! You can mix it with liquid soap to make a homemade soft scrub for cleaning, or you can use it on your face to exfoliate.

When a dish overflows in the oven producing an awful burned smell, I sprinkle baking soda over the ash to absorb the smell and enable the dish to complete cooking without the burned smell!
Love to all you Ms Moms, Nana o/’
