The past few years, I’ve been very blessed to take party in a weekly women’s Bible study. It’s been a bright spot in many weeks for me…you know, that shining moment each week when I get to have conversation with adults. That, and the fact that it’s helped to keep me grounded and growing in God’s word. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to participate in the study this fall until a wonderful woman told me she was going to keep our twins each week so I could go. She handed me a little freedom and a lot of fellowship on a pretty little plate, and I couldn’t be more thankful for it.
The problem is that I’m finding it pretty difficult to actually DO the Bible study. I don’t know if it’s because there’s usually a baby in my arms or that my attention span seems shorter than that of my toddler these days, but I just haven’t been getting it done…until now.
This past week, when a friend said something very simple, I had what I would like to call an “Aha!” moment, but truly, it was more of a “Duh!” moment for me.
What she said was this: “Read the book of Nehemiah first.” (We’re doing Kelly Minter’s study of Nehemiah.)
Y’all, I might just be sleep deprived, but it had never occurred to me to sit down and read the whole book first then just read the study without all of the flipping back and forth when my hands aren’t free. And, I read the book of Nehemiah aloud to my little ones, who just want to hear my voice anyway. And, in two short days, I’ve almost caught up with the study. Problem solved…and hopefully, mind well on the way to renewal.
Give it a try if you find yourself struggling like I have been…it just might work for you, too!
