Normally, I tend to be a little like Alton Brown when it comes to kitchen utensils. Even if I have a gadget that’s “perfect” for a certain task, I’ll usually just use something simple that works for everything. There are, however, a few exceptions. here are two of them:
A scoop for cookie dough. I finally broke down and bought one a few months ago, and I absolutely love it! I purchased a small one that might technically be for melons, but it works perfectly for making uniform cookies, cupcakes, muffins and more. And, the amount in the scoop is perfect for a mini muffin pan, too. In addition, I find it is a very good size for suitable portions of ice cream for kids.
Another gadget I am so happy I have is an egg slicer from Pampered Chef. I bought it at a Pampered Chef party a few years ago and have used it ever since. Beyond slicing boiled eggs, it makes quick work of slicing strawberries. In fact, one night, some friends had come over and eaten dinner with us, and when I realized we all wanted dessert, I quickly sliced a whole package of strawberries while everyone finished dinner. And, I didn’t make a mess in the process. Love it.
