Write 31 Days: Promises for Parents

So, it’s October 3, and I’m already behind.  No surprise there, really.  I wanted to participate in the #write31days challenge because I have gotten out of the habit of blogging, and I miss it.   So, better late than never, right?

One of the reasons I’m behind is the simple fact that I couldn’t decide on a topic for the challenge.  I considered just joining the folks at 5 Minute Friday for a month of five- minute free writes, but it just didn’t seem to fit.  I finally decided to focus on 31 Promises for Parents because I need some encouragement these days, and I thought you might, too.  There’s no better place to look than God’s Word, and his promises are available to hang our hope upon.

That’s where we’ll start…with a promise about his promises.  After all….

“God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.  Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill?”  (Numbers 23:19)

When we’re looking for something to rely on as parents, God’s promises are there.  I might speak and not act, but he doesn’t.  I might promise and not fulfill, but he won’t.

Because…

“The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made…”  (Psalm 145:13)

So the promises we’ll ponder this month all have one thing in common:  they will be fulfilled.

In a world of uncertainty, I love a sure thing.

And in the madness of motherhood, I crave things that are constant.

This month, let’s run to the rock of God’s Word; let’s find joy in his faithfulness.
