Even without my children, I am easily distracted. With them running in circles around me, my attention span is shorter than a toddler’s.
Some days, it seems impossible to follow any plan through from Point A to Point B, and to be honest, I often look back at the day and wonder if I’ve actually gotten anything done.
It’s not my nature to plan. I married an engineer for that.
My personality is more “Get the big picture and go with it” so details often get overlooked, especially with the day-to-day distractions that come with being a wife and a mother.
But, I need to be more focused. Not rigid. Focused.
There are things that must get done, goals that must be met.
And, to do the things God’s called me to do (and do them well), I have to be committed to them and focused on them.
Proverbs 4:25-26 says, “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.”
My life does not have to be measured in checked boxes on my to-do list, but my life will be blessed if I keep sight of the things God has given me to do and do them with diligence.
