Upgrading your bathroom is a great way to start making a house a home, whether you’ve just moved in or it’s been a little while since you last made any changes to the space. After all, it will ensure the space remains as functional as possible, while looking its best and adding considerable value to your property.
But…
Upgrading your bathroom can feel like a huge undertaking. Our home has bathrooms that haven’t been updated since they were built in 1963. Pink tile anyone?
It’s time to move on, and with that in mind, here are four easy ways to upgrade your bathroom.
Deep clean the space. The easiest way to give your bathroom an upgrade is to deep clean the space. However, this means going beyond your routine wipe down by focusing on tasks that are often ignored or glossed over. This includes tackling even the smallest signs of mold and cleaning out your medicine cupboard. Generally speaking, the more thorough you can be here, the better!
Replace your tiles. This is where I need to start! (Ok… I actually need to start with the deep clean, but don’t we all?) Whether your bathroom tiles have faded with age or are becoming a little loose, replacing them is an incredibly effective way to upgrade your bathroom. In fact, it can make the entire place look good as new! There are so many options available, and you can get as creative as you like or keep it simple and classic. Preferably not pink.
Of course, no refresh would be complete without a fresh coat of paint on any area of the bathroom that is not tiled.
Bring in the experts. Getting your bathroom back into top shape can be difficult, especially if you’re not the handiest person around. As such, you can make the process run much smoother (and get better results) by hiring experienced bathroom remodeling professionals to do the hard work on your behalf. This is a great way to ensure the finished product is as close to your initial vision as possible!
Think about the finishing touches. No bathroom upgrade is complete without a few finishing touches. For example, now is also the time to replace that old bath mat that never really dries or to install a new shower curtain. Update your hardware if you can and strive to make sure the space looks as visually cohesive and well put-together as possible.
While you’re at it, consider fresh linens. We have cabinets full of linens that have had a longer life than they probably should have. They take up more space than they should, so I could have fewer, newer towels and washcloths that add to the look of the bathroom while being useful, too. These bright white ones from Amazon Basics are reasonably priced and would be perfect.
Upgrading your bathroom can be a lot of fun, and it doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking. After all, it gives you the chance to do something entirely new in the space, while also adding considerable value to your home along the way. You can go as big as working with remodeling experts to transform your bathroom in its entirety, or simply do a good old-fashioned deep clean.
