Hi, everyone! I hope your week is going well. Mine is going crazy. Let me give you a little rundown:
- I spend hours almost every day answering emails pertaining to our upcoming trip to Kenya.
- My dining room is full of things I’m packing to take to Kenya.
- My son will have more than 50 stitches removed from his arm tomorrow morning. (Prayers please!)
- I’ve spent the past two weekends out of town helping my mom pack up her house because she’s moving.
- Our homeschool should be in full swing, but momentum has been hard to find and harder to keep.
- I turned 40 this week.
I think that’s enough to give you the idea. I’m busy. Maybe too busy.
Do you ever get that way? What am I saying? Of course, you do!
We all do. We take on more and more until we’re crumpled and crying to the children’s minister. Or maybe that’s just me.
The problem is often that we try to do it all alone. I know I do. First, I forget my source of strength and the one who can order my days and make them productive; then I forget the people he’s put in my life to help carry the load.
Because he never intended for me to carry it all myself.
He tells us to carry each other’s burdens. It’s how we fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)
What’s the law of Christ? LOVE.
Serving one another follows the example that he set, y’all.
But do you know what? Sometimes, that means we have let others serve us. We have to let them give sacrificially, too, because they have the same call on their lives that we do: obedience.
It’s hard to do sometimes though. We, like the disciples, tend to think there’s a better use for their time or their talents. They wanted to take a beautifully sacrificial gift and sell it to fund their ministry, right? Jesus just sat back and soaked in the beauty and the scent.
Sometimes we need to do the same.
I’ve been learning a little bit about that lately, about working together in the body of Christ, and I’m really excited because in the next month, I’m going to have some wonderful writers join me here at MississippiMom.com on Encouraging Word Wednesday so I can focus on and travel to Kenya to serve others there. I am thrilled to have them guest post here because you’re going to love these women and their words!
I know they will bless you so be sure to tune in each week and read their posts.
Last week, I told you about a book that has been a huge encouragement to me and promised to give a copy to one of the bloggers who joined last week’s linkup. The winner is Dani at LivingFreeIndeed! Y’all, if you’re not reading her blog, you need to be! Her words and insight are so encouraging, and I always look forward to reading her posts. If you didn’t win, don’t let that stop you from reading More Than Just Making It by Erin Odom! If you pre-order, you can enter to win the Mega Giveaway, and you don’t want to miss that!
Now, let’s see your encouraging words this week! Add your links below!

You DO have a lot going on. So thankful that you have reached out for help with your blogging. Writing can be a community thing rather than being so isolating.

Praying for you as you prepare and go to Kenya! It’s amazing to see the church care for one another – to serve and be blessed when served. God shows us such grace in fellowship and unity! And thank you so much for the book! You are too sweet, I really appreciate your kind works regarding my blog. 🙂
