“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again, “Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
I read those verses, and I realize:
I have a choice.
Do I see the scattered crumbs on the table, the chocolate smeared on the shirts or the grinning milk mustaches enjoying every morsel?
Do I see the dirty dishes piled up or the well-fed tummies that sleep soundly under our roof?
Do I see the darkness that is around me or the Light that lives within?
Because they are both there, but I choose which one to see.
After my second (no, third…for there is one who waits for us) child was born, days grew dark, my mind grew dim. And to survive that time, to move forward THROUGH it (because I could not go around), each day, each moment, I made a choice.
A choice to rejoice.
Thank you, God, for making me…
Thank you, God, for giving me…
Thank you….
Thank you….
Thank you….
And, because “as a man thinks, so he is,” the act of rejoicing led to joy.

It’s that time of week again, the time when we write for five minutes, no over-thinking, over-editing, etc. Join us at Lisa-Jo’s and be part of the fun!
Great reminder. Joy is our family’s word for the year. Keep loving those kids well as you choose to see joy in the everyday.:)
Thanks!
Amen. I had this going on all week. Choose joy. Choose joy. Grasping onto it. Some days it’s harder than others but we have promises we can always cling to. So good.
The hard days make the choice all the more beautiful, I think, for that is where faith comes in. Thanks for stopping by this week!
Thank you for the reminder to choose joy! Thankful I stopped in from the Five Minute Friday!
I’m thankful you did, too!
Joy–what a beautiful choice! Our minds are so powerful (and it’s such a difficult lesson to learn some times) and wonderfully made.
Amen! Thank you for visiting and commenting today!
Your so right…perspective…joy glasses always make the world magically right itself!
So true. Beautifully said.
“Do I see the darkness that is around me or the Light that lives within?
Because they are both there, but I choose which one to see.” Love this! Thank you!
