Joining in with Lisa-Jo for Five Minute Friday this week. Join us!
To be honest, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the word for today was “Together in Paris” from the movie Anastasia. We watch cartoons here. What can I say?
Then, I thought of how much I want to be “Together in Kenya” with my whole family. Y’all, that’s my dream. All of them. The little ones and the one I married…the one who went with me to Kenya on our honeymoon many years ago.
But, really, I’ve been having a lot of thoughts about togetherness lately. Because we have a lot of togetherness around here. A friend said to me, “Deciding to homeschool is making a commitment to a lifestyle where you children are always with you.” Amen, sister. Amen. Enough said.
And, when you add in stomach viruses that keep everyone at home all weekend, the togetherness can be a bit much.
So, I find myself tired and longing for a little alone time. Because I’m weak, impatient and irritable. Feeling like I can’t do the things before me today so in true Scarlett-style, “I’ll think about that tomorrow.”
But, the problem is that in all this togetherness, I’ve also gotten isolated. From friends. From Bible study. So, the places that offer strength and encouragement are the ones I haven’t visited.
And, that’s the togetherness I need. I need the encouragement that comes from the body of believers and the renewing that comes from the washing of the word. Because “with my God I can scale a wall,” y’all.
Mountains of laundry don’t look so big now, do they?

Its absolutely necessary to have that “togetherness”. That feeling of communion is important to one’s spiritual and mental health. Great post! Visiting from Five Minute Friday Love the way your blog is set up!
