Wisdom.
We’ve had a month of it here, and one thing I’ve learned is this:
Wisdom protects us.
From danger.
From folly.
From fear.
And the reason is simple.
All wisdom comes from God, and it is in him that we rest.
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” (Proverbs 30:5)
We can look for wisdom, but it is in him that we find it.
When we read his word, we can’t choose to believe this or follow that. It is ALL flawless, and our faith can rest upon it.
When we do, we are resting in Him, in his protection and in his provision.
We’re not just running to hide though we can because Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” We can run to him and hide in the shadow of his wings.
But we can go forward under his protection, too.
That’s what a shield is for, isn’t it?
With God as our shield, we can advance, going forward in the battle that is this life, knowing that he goes before us. If anything gets to us, it comes through him first.
