Okay, in my family it’s “Almost-As-Good-As-Grandmother’s” because my grandma doesn’t make dumplings, but oh, my grandmother did. In fact, I actually learned this trick from her.
Making good chicken and dumplings is not something difficult to do, and here’s a little something that makes it even easier: Frozen Dumplings.
Yes, the same girl who posted yesterday about making your own Oreos is telling you to get your dumplings in the freezer section.
Just boil your chicken (or chicken breasts or tenders) and reserve the broth. Then bring it back to a boil and add the dumplings one at a time. Add the chicken back and simmer slow for a while until the dumplings are done and the whole pot has thickened. (You can make a simple white sauce to add if you like.) The longer it cooks, the thicker (and more like homemade) the dumplings will get.
I still (slightly) prefer to make my own dumplings, but if you’re pinched for time (or energy), these work beautifully. Enjoy!
