Works-For-Me-Wednesday: Easy French Bread Pizza

Some nights, I just don’t feel like cooking.  At all.  Funny thing is:  my family still feels like eating.  So, this is one of our favorite easy, ready faster than Rachel Ray can say “30-Minute Meals” dinner ideas.  And, there are a lot of easy ways to change it up.

Ingredients:

One loaf store-bought French Bread (Or, you can make you own)

Sauce

Cheese

Toppings

If you’re wondering, “What kind of sauce?  How much cheese?”  Let me explain:  You can choose whatever you like.  Or, better yet, whatever you have on hand.  Here’s what I did this week:

A loaf of garlic parmesan bread from Wal-Mart’s bakery.  (I told you you could get anything there.)  A small can of Hunt’s Basil, Garlic & Oregano tomato sauce, which by the way is a fantastic pantry item to have on hand.  You can use it in so many ways!  About 2 cups of mozzerella cheese and a sprinkling of a colby/monterey jack blend for color.  Pepperoni.

Split the bread down the middle, making two halves.  Spread sauce evenly the top of each.  Sprinkle cheese evenly then add pepperoni.  Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes, until bread is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Easy!

Here are other options:

My Husband’s Version is to use plain French bread, Rotel tomatoes, Colby & Monterey Jack Cheese and pepperoni.

(This  is very tasty and a bit spicy, but not MY favorite because…gasp!…I don’t like pieces of tomatoes.  Still, it’s good.)

Barbeque Chicken:  Use plain French bread, barbeque sauce and cooked chicken.  (You can even use the kind from a can…Shhhh…)  If you like, add a few banana peppers for flavor and a little kick.

Mediterranean:  Feta, pine nuts, chicken….Or you could use pesto, chicken and mozzerella….

The options are endless.  Enjoy!
