Notes from Nana: A Mother’s Day Memo

Some days, is your physical mailbox just filled with un-asked for and un-wanted mail?   I read something stunning recently, in of all places, a mail order catalog.

I stand by the trash can to check my day’s mail and sometimes just glance at an item and throw it away. (A hint I learned years ago.  I’m always looking for those “Clear Your Clutter Away” type ideas.) But this catalog was my only mail of the day.  So I looked through it …and one little sign captured my mind.  I actually reached for my scissors, clipped the sign, threw the rest of the catalog in the trash and glued the words onto the “Words and Quotes” page in the back of my journal. But… the words began to work in my mind. I’m still thinking about them, obviously.  I hope you will too!

So, what was so good? Just this:

**********************************

JESUS KNOWS ME, THIS I LOVE!

**********************************

What was that?  I thought. Did they get that right? Oh, it’s a play on the old hymn.  “Jesus loves me; this I know for the Bible tells me so!” (I was preparing to use the song with truth filled words to teach at the “Christian Women’s Job Corp.”)

Oh, that’s good, I thought!  “Jesus knows me, this I love.”   Very good!  The little sign began to capture my heart.

Yes, Jesus loves me. And He loves you too, all you Mississippi Moms. And Dads. And any women who are not Moms and read this post. Jesus loves! He IS love.  I do know this for I’ve been taught and have read in my Holy Bible for many years. Jesus is the Truth, the Way, and the Life…for the Bible tells me so.

Conversely, this fact is also true: Jesus KNOWS me! How I love that He knows me for He made me.  He knows your needs and my needs today. This day. He will empower me to be my best self when I yield my life to Him and ask Him daily. He encourages me through: His Word; the beauty in His creation; talking with Him in prayer; fellowship with other Christians;  reading Christian literature …and many other ways.  How does He encourage you?

Have a blessed day, dear Mississippi Moms and all readers! Rejoice in the glowing truth: You are loved. Your Heavenly Father knows you, rejoices in YOU, and will quiet you with His love. Happy Mother’s Day!

With love in Christ, Nana o/`

About Ginger Caughman

Ginger Caughman, who writes "Notes from Nana," has encouraged me time and again in both my walk with Christ and my role as mom. She is a writer and a friend…and a lot of fun! I know her words will encourage and uplift you. They’ll probably challenge you, too. She loves writing, teaching, singing…but most of all she loves the Lord. In addition to "Notes from Nana," she writes book reviews for MississippiMom.com, having worked with books from all angles, as a teacher and school librarian, church librarian, trustee for years on the St. Charles Parish Library Board, writing for Media: Library Services Journal and her favorite, reading as a mother and grandmother!
