The Best Ways To Update Your Space Without Stress

Updating your home should be exciting, not overwhelming, but that’s often exactly what it is. Sometimes it feels like one big, expensive headache. One minute, you’re thinking you’ll just make one small change, and suddenly, you’re renovating a whole house because you keep finding more and more things to do, especially if you have an older home like we do. The long list of things to do can lead to a lot of stress.

The truth is, however, home updates don’t have to be stressful. In fact, the best ones usually aren’t. No matter whether you’re doing one small thing or making much larger changes, there are some excellent ways to move ahead with your ideas without getting (too) stressed at all.

Start With What You’ve Already Got

Where should you start when it comes to updating your space? Well, before rushing to buy new things, take a look at what you’ve already got. Sometimes, a little rearranging is all it takes to make a space feel fresh, so try swapping furniture between rooms, moving décor around, or even just decluttering. You might be amazed at how different a space can feel when you clear out the things you don’t love and make the most of what you do.

Focus On One Statement Upgrade

If the idea of a full-scale renovation makes you feel stressed and like you don’t even want to get started, here’s a trick: focus on one high-impact update. Consider upgrading your countertops, swapping out old flooring, or giving your walls a bold new color. Changes like these can be exactly what your home needs to feel refreshed without too much of a major overhaul. Once it’s done, you can either stop there, or you might have the motivation you need to do more around the house.

And, if you’re able, get some help. If you need new surfaces, for example, working with experts like Martzall’s Custom Surfaces is a great move to make. They’ll be able to help you whether you’re upgrading kitchen counters, bathroom surfaces, or you want some custom flooring, and delegating the work to people who know what they’re doing will give you the best results with much less stress.

Upgrade The Little Details

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest impact, and things like swapping cabinet handles rather than entire cabinets, updating light fixtures rather than doing the electrics, or adding some new bedding rather than redecorating the whole bedroom can be ideal.

The best thing is that these are pretty low effort jobs, so you should be able to do them with no problems. Even though the projects are simple, the results will be impressive.

Make It Feel Like You

At the end of the day, your home should reflect you.  When it does, you will enjoy it more and feel more comfortable in it. So of course, adding personal touches like family photos, unique artwork, or meaningful décor is crucial because that’s what turns a house into a home.

What goes into your decor shouldn’t be just about what looks good; it’s about creating a space that feels good as well, a space that you’ll be happy to come home to.
